Services

The APACenter Has Closed

Sadly, after serving the Austin and surrounding communities since 2007, we have decided to close the APACenter. If you are looking for psychological services, we recommend that you contact some of APACenter former psychologists at their new practice, Capital Area Psychological & Evaluation Services, or CAPES. If you are trying to reach Dr. Mike Brooks, he can be reached through his website of www.drmikebrooks.com.

The information below about the APACenter is being kept for legacy purposes.

At the APACenter, we provide a variety of psychology services. If you or your child are having difficulties in school, at work, or with personal relationships, we can help you overcome these challenges and create a more positive life.

Our Licensed Psychologists and other professionals at the APACenter have a wide range of expertise to help you or your child capitalize on strengths, work through difficulties, and reach goals.

We work with children, adolescents, and adults, tailoring our services to meet each individual’s needs. Extensive research and real-world success have proven the effectiveness of our techniques.

We offer a wide variety of psychology services, which generally fall within one of the following five categories:

  • Neuropsychological & Psychological Assessments – If you or your child are struggling for unknown reasons, particularly when these struggles affect educational performance and functioning, a psychological assessment can give you answers and direction.  Our assessments provide a comprehensive understanding of strengths and weaknesses, an accurate diagnosis, and tailored recommendations. They also help inform appropriate educational placement, programming, interventions, and accommodations (e.g., extended time on standardized tests).
  • Therapy – Within a client-centered philosophy, we use scientifically-proven methods, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, positive psychology principles, and solution-oriented therapy. We offer counseling for individuals (from children through adults), couples, and families.
  • Educational Support –  If you or your child are experiencing difficulties in school or college, we can consult with you to explore options and act as an advocate on your behalf to help you or your child gain access to services and accommodations to which you may be entitled.
  • Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs) – If your child receives special education services, and you disagree with the school’s evaluation, you may request for an Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE). An IEE can also be requested when you child has received a school evaluation, and the school has determined that your child is not eligible for special education services. If you disagree with the school’s determination, you may request an IEE. Note that the IEE is at the school district’s expense and is at no financial cost to you.
  • Consultation –  Our professionals can provide consultation for many issues if you just need some advice about a problem or struggle, or you just aren’t sure whether an assessment or therapy would be the best fit.
  • Psychology Presentations –  Our professionals can provide consultation for many issues if you just need some advice about a problem or Our psychologists and other professionals can present on a wide variety of topics related to well-being, learning, parenting, behavior management, personal growth, and other topics.

We encourage you to browse the material on our website to help you decide which of our services is the best fit for you or your child.
