Germer’s book on self-compassion is an excellent guide on how to bring more self-compassion to our lives. In this book, he defines self-compassion, details how it can be important to our experience and gives very practical exercises to help increase our self-compassion. I have studied self-compassion throughout my graduate work and found this book to be an ideal introduction to the subject. In addition, the exercises on loving kindness (metta) work well with self-compassion and are easy to bring to our busy lives.
These are just a few books that have been helpful to my understanding of mindfulness and how to make mindfulness a part of my daily life. As I remember other books that I may have forgotten in this post, I will add them in future posts. In addition, I plan to review new books that I find helpful. Feel free to write with suggestions as well!
