Connecting students to a college that fits.
Collegewise is a college counseling company founded on the belief that the college process should be an enjoyable one for families and that the most selective colleges don’t have the market cornered on great college experiences. Students in our program are each assigned to a college counselor who guides them (without doing it for them) through every step of the college application process, from picking colleges, to filling out applications, to choosing the right stories for students’ college essays. Unless you believe that there are only twelve colleges on the planet worth attending (if you do, we’d like to tell you in the nicest way possible that we completely disagree), we can probably help you, too.
individual, couple, family and group therapy
children, adolescents and adults
Description of services: Individuals, couples, and group counseling , consultation, and workshops. Some of my professional interests include mindfulness-based counseling, grief and loss, and assistance with medical decision-making.
I am a licensed psychologist with a private practice in Austin, TX, specializing in work with children, adolescents and their families. I work with clients with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues, including depression, anxiety, family conflict, autism spectrum, bipolar, learning disabilities, conflict difficulties, attention deficit disorders, griefwork and adjustment to life changes. I provide individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy and parent and school consultation services. I've been working with children and families for over 20 years, and I have school district experience as well.
I believe that each person holds within them unique strengths and capacity to grow, heal from past hurts and bring positive experiences into their lives. My goal as a therapist is to help clients find the tools they already possess and put them into action to reach their goals. With children, this often happens through the creative arts or art of play. Overall, I believe that what happens to us does not determine how we feel; how we respond to it determines how we feel. Our challenges do not define us, but rather give us opportunities to grow.
I use techniques from a variety of therapeutic modalities, including interpersonal, cognitive-behavioral, play therapy, narrative, solution focused and family systems orientations. When working with children, I believe that it is crucial to work with the various systems and adults in a child's life (parents, school, etc.) on a regular basis. Above all, I believe that the relationship between the therapist and client is the most powerful agent to effect change. Within this relationship, I act as guide and witness to help clients reach their goals or cope with difficult circumstances.
