About Ruthie
I became interested in working with individuals with learning, behavioral, and emotional difficulties while working towards my Bachelor’s degree 12 years ago. I spent years working with clients in one-on-one settings in which improving behavior and clients’ skills was the goal of therapy. While working towards my Master’s of Science degree in Behavior Analysis, I spent numerous years working in private centers, public and private school systems, and in home settings. As I was working on my master’s thesis, I developed a passion for assisting individuals with ADD/ADHD overcome their difficulties. I then continued providing services in a private practice in which I have worked to deliver high quality parent training, ADD/ADHD coaching, and treatment programs for individuals with autism and related disabilities. I believe in creating uniquely tailored programs for each client based on their individual needs. As a therapist, I will strive to help you or your child develop new forms of responding to your everyday and ongoing challenges and, ultimately, have these skills internalized so that you have to tools to overcome these challenges on your own.
Professional Statement
Regardless of our backgrounds, our daily lives are filled with challenges that come from the environment that surrounds us. Our environment includes the obligations we must meet at school and work as well as in navigating complex social interactions with friends, family, and coworkers. When we meet these challenges, we experience fulfillment and growth. However, for many of us, the struggle to meet these daily challenges is overwhelming. My approach is to help you to more clearly understand the difficulties you face in life and develop the skills necessary to overcome them and achieve your goals. I provide in home and on site support to work with you directly where the difficulties in your life are taking place. By partnering with you to discover the relationship between your environmental demands and your efforts to meet these demands, we will develop new strategies and skills to help you achieve the success that you desire.
My training and professional experience enable me to effectively work with children, teens, and adults with diverse emotional, behavioral, and attention difficulties. If you are a parent, I can help you improve relationships with your children and to better manage their behavior. If you have ADD/ADHD, I can serve as a coach so that you can more effectively manage everyday difficulties while increasing focus and concentration. For individuals with autism spectrum disorders, I can help them develop new skills to improve functioning at home, in school, and in social relationships. I am very touched by the lives of my clients, and I receive a great satisfaction through my work.
