About Ruthie
I became interested in working with individuals with learning, behavioral, and emotional difficulties while working towards my Behavior Analysis degree 13 years ago. I spent years working with clients in one-on-one settings in which improving behavior and clients’ skills was the goal of therapy. While working towards my Master’s of Science degree in Behavior Analysis, I spent numerous years working in private centers, public and private school systems, and in home settings. As I was working on my master’s thesis, I became very interested in general learning operations and methodologies to make learning more efficient across all learning populations. I then continued providing services in which I have worked to deliver specialized in-school and in-home behavior and learning programs, high quality parent training, as wells as treatment programs for individuals with autism and related disabilities. I believe in creating uniquely tailored programs for each client based on their individual needs. As a behavior specialist, I will strive to help you or your child develop new forms of responding to your everyday and ongoing challenges and, ultimately, have these skills internalized so that you have to tools to overcome these challenges on your own.

Professional Statement
Regardless of our backgrounds, our daily lives are filled with challenges that come from the environment that surrounds us. Our environment includes the obligations we must meet at school and at home as well as in navigating complex social interactions with friends and family. When we meet these challenges, we experience fulfillment and growth. However, for many of us, the struggle to meet these daily challenges is overwhelming. My approach is to help you to more clearly understand the difficulties you face in life and develop the skills necessary to overcome them and achieve your goals. I provide in home and on site support to work with you or your child directly where these difficulties are taking place. By partnering with you to discover the relationship between your environmental demands and your efforts to meet these demands, we will develop new strategies and skills to help you achieve the success that you desire.

My training and professional experience enable me to effectively work with children with diverse emotional, behavioral, and attention difficulties and also the parents of these children who struggle to relate with and guide them. If you are a parent, I can help you improve relationships with your children and to better manage their behavior. I like to train parents to implement the learning programs and procedures I create. This parent training can bring a sustainable and naturalistic approach to the treatment, which can lead to a higher likelihood that the treatment will continue work for long after I have introduced the procedures. For individuals with autism spectrum disorders, conduct disorders, and ADD/ADHD, I develop new skills for the child so that they improve functioning at home, in school, and in social relationships. I am very touched by the lives of my clients, and I receive a great satisfaction and inspiration through my work.
