About Dr. Kristen Ridley Beers
Hello! I am Dr. Kristen Ridley Beers. My broad range of experience includes providing neuropsychological and psychological assessments, intervention, and consultation services within various outpatient, inpatient, and school settings. I earned my doctoral degree in school psychology with a focus in neuropsychology from The University of Texas at Austin. I completed an internship in pediatric neuropsychology at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center. While there, I gained specialized training and experience in neuropsychological evaluation of children, adolescents, and young adults with a wide range of developmental, medical, and neurological disorders (e.g., acquired brain injuries, childhood cancer, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, central nervous system infections, autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, and learning disabilities). I subsequently returned to Austin and completed two years of postdoctoral training in pediatric neuropsychology. At the APACenter, I continue to provide comprehensive neuropsychological and psychological evaluations for individuals with a range of developmental, medical, and neurological conditions.
Assessment Approach
A comprehensive assessment can be very helpful in identifying specific strengths, difficulties, and if any interventions or supports are needed. My role in the assessment process is to obtain an in-depth and integrated picture of you or your child’s functioning and develop useful recommendations that draw upon specific areas of strength. For many parents, finding out the results of an evaluation can be an overwhelming experience. It is important to me that you feel comfortable voicing any concerns you may have. I will take time to help you understand what the results mean and appropriate next steps. I can also be available to attend school meetings with you to assist in developing plans for supports or advocating for appropriate services.
