When you are searching for a new direction, we will help you discover possibilities for change. The Austin Psychological Assessment Center (ApaCenter) is comprised of psychologists with different but overlapping areas of expertise who conduct assessments to help you capitalize on your strengths, work through your challenges, and reach your goals. We work with individuals ranging in age from young children through adults.

Some of our areas of specialization include:

Common uses of our assessments include:

  • Making appropriate diagnoses and recommendations for treatment
  • Developing educational recommendations for school and home-based interventions
  • Documenting the need for special education services
  • Identifying the need for 504 program services at primary, secondary, and college levels
  • Determining the appropriateness of 504 accommodations such as extended time on standardized tests (e.g., SAT, ACT, GRE)
The ApaCenter's goal is to provide you with the best assessment possible to meet your needs. To this end, we have embraced many approaches and procedures that set us apart from others that provide psychological and educational evaluations:
  • All testing and report-writing are completed by Licensed Psychologists
  • Several ApaCenter psychologists are also Licensed Specialists in School Psychology (LSSPs), which puts us in a unique position to advocate for students in a way that the schools can understand and implement
  • A Licensed Psychologist who specializes in your area of interest/concern will conduct the assessment
  • ApaCenter assessments look at the whole person including strengths and resources, and take into account the person's environment, such as school and family settings
  • A collaborative/team-based approach is used - our psychologists consult with one another to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of our assessments
  • Recommendations are based on empirically-supported research findings and tailored to the needs of each client
  • Assessment reports and feedback are usually given about 2-3 weeks after the testing is completed

Deciding whether to pursue an evaluation is a big decision, and one in which you want to feel confident that your questions will be answered to your satisfaction. Please take a few moments to browse our website to see whether what we offer at the ApaCenter can meet your needs.
