If you would like to set up an assessment or are considering one as a possibility, then we have you meet with one of our Licensed Psychologists for a 75-minute initial consultation session. The fee for this 75-minute initial consultation session is $175.
If you decide to pursue an assessment, we will get a copy your insurance company and use P&L Billing Solutions to obtain your benefit information and preauthorization for an assessment. It is likely that, if you have a PPO insurance plan, you will be reimbursed at least partially for the psychological or neuropsychological evaluation. The extent of the reimbursement depends on the particular plan.
Our office manager, Becky Holley, will contact you within a couple days via email with your benefit information. So, prior to initiating the actual testing, you will know how much your insurance plan will reimburse you for the assessment.
If you are ready to schedule the assessment, Becky will set this up.
At the feedback session, you will be given an invoice by the psychologist for the assessment that contains all of the proper billing codes. You can then submit this invoice to your insurance company for your out of network reimbursement.
Important Information about ApaCenter Assessments
Fees for ApaCenter assessments are very competitive given the quality and comprehensiveness of our evaluations.
Some facts about our assessments:
- Our assessments are conducted entirely by Licensed Psychologists(not by graduate students or interns). Thus, all of the testing AND report writing are done by the expert – the psychologist.
- Our comprehensive assessments require about 12-15 hours of direct time by the Licensed Psychologist.
- Our Licensed Psychologists are also Licensed Specialists in School Psychology (LSSPs). Thus, we have specialized training in assessments of school-aged children and adolescents and are experts in obtaining school-based accommodations and services through special education and 504.
- All reports contain individualized recommendations based on the strengths and weaknesses of each person. We do not use “cookie-cutter” recommendations.
- We provide a one-hour feedback with the Licensed Psychologist to review the assessment findings and recommendations.
As you investigate options for an assessment for you or your child, be sure to ask questions such as:
- Who does the testing?
- Who writes the report?
- Is the psychologist also a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology?
- How many direct hours does the psychologist spend on the typical assessment?
- Is a one-hour feedback session included?
Deciding to pursue an evaluation is a big decision and a new process for most people. At the ApaCenter, we approach assessments in a way to ensure that we answer your questions and help you get the results you want.
